How to Join
The Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 always welcomes new volunteers. There's a place for everyone in this organization, even those who have no desire to fight fire. There are plenty of jobs to be done by support personnel on a fire scene that is just as important as actually fighting the fire. It only takes as much time as one is willing to give once minimal training requirements are met, and it's a good way to give something back to the community. Volunteers with the department come from all walks of life. Our volunteer staff includes educators, business owners, nurses, retirees, farmers, business administrators, laborers, and college students, just to name a few. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to join us in our efforts to provide the citizens of Lincoln Parish with the best possible fire protection at a minimal cost to the homeowner.
- There are a few basic qualifications that must be met in order to become a volunteer member of the Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District No. 1.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Applicants must reside within five (5) miles of a LPFD fire station.
- Applicants must be in good physical condition.
- Applicants must successfully complete the basic fire training class.
Even those volunteers who know from the beginning that they have no desire to fight fire are encouraged to complete the basic fire training class. The basic fire training class gives one the ability to better understand what occurs in a fire, as well as a better understanding of what a firefighter experiences while fighting a fire. Once a volunteer has completed the initial basic training and all other requirements are met, the member is placed on a probationary status for six (6) months. After the six month probationary period, if the prospective member has shown that he or she has a desire to be a part of the department by responding to fires and attending training when possible, then the member is moved from probationary status to active volunteer.
