DEFINITION:
Under Parish Administrator supervision, is responsible for work of average difficulty in performing general secretarial and clerical duties for an administrator; performs related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Takes dictation from notes, letters, memos and dictating machine; types from rough drafts letters or memos where knowledge of format and presentation are necessary composes letters and memorandums in accordance with known policies or brief instructions; maintains general office files; maintain files as directed; input accounts receivable payments into accounting software, answers telephone and screens visitors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Sufficient skills in typing to complete sixty words per minute and take dictation. Considerable knowledge of modern office procedure and equipment; work flow coordination and clerical technique. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with others.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent approved by Louisiana Department of Education
Training and Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a clerk, clerk typist or equivalent; course work in secretarial science may be substituted for experience on a year to year basis.
License: Appropriate Vehicle Operations License.
